Automotive Shredder Residue (ASR), a waste when metals are mostly removed from end-of-life vehicles, has constituents similar to municipal solid (MSW) consisting of plastics, rubber, textiles, and some metals. The processing ASR is challenge due its heterogeneous nature, making feeding reactor difficult. In this work, new procedure pretreatment proposed bring particulate nature in the sample for easier during pyrolysis. thermal breakdown characteristics pretreated solids under slow pyrolysis conditions were assessed thermogravimetric analyser following International Confederation Thermal Analysis Calorimetry (ICTAC) kinetics committee recommendations. effect particle sizes heating rates studied at temperatures up 800 °C different 2, 5, 10 °C/min three sizes, 38–63 µm, 63–90 90–106 kinetic data derived. volatiles emitted characterized by Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Spectroscopy (DRIFTS).
